Disclaimer
Please read this page. It explains exactly what we are, what we are not, and what we will never ask you for.

We Are an Independent Educational Website
The Scam Exposed is a free, independent website. We were built to help people, and especially older adults, learn how to spot scams and stay safe. We are not a government agency, a law enforcement agency, a legal service, a financial institution, a debt or money recovery service, or a claims company. We are not affiliated with the FBI, the FTC, the Social Security Administration, the IRS, your bank, or any other official organization, even when we write about them or link to their websites.
We Do Not Guarantee Any Outcome
Everything on this site is for education and awareness. We do our best to give you accurate, helpful information, but we cannot promise a specific result. Reading our articles, taking our quizzes, or checking a number on our tool does not guarantee that you will avoid a scam, and it does not guarantee that any harm can be undone.
We Do Not Recover Money, Investigate Cases, or Contact Anyone on Your Behalf
To be completely clear, The Scam Exposed does not:
- Recover, retrieve, or return money that has already been sent to a scammer.
- Investigate individual fraud cases or scam reports.
- Contact your bank, credit card company, or wallet provider on your behalf.
- Contact scammers, negotiate with them, or attempt to get your money back from them.
- File police reports for you.
- Provide legal advice or represent you in any legal matter.
- Provide financial, tax, or investment advice.
- Charge any fee to give you reporting information or safety guidance.
If you have lost money to a scam, please go to our Official Reporting Resources page right away and contact the appropriate U.S. government agency.
We Will Never Ask You For These Things
This is one of the most important parts of this page, so please remember it. We will never contact you and ask for:
- Your online banking username or password.
- Your Social Security Number.
- Your credit card, debit card, or bank account numbers.
- The private keys, seed phrase, or password to a cryptocurrency wallet.
- Remote access to your computer, tablet, or phone.
- Payment of any kind in exchange for "recovering" lost money.
If someone contacts you claiming to be from The Scam Exposed and asks for any of the above, it is not us. Please do not respond, and see our Scam Awareness Notice for what to do next.
We Never Guarantee a Refund or Compensation
No legitimate organization, including ours, can guarantee that you will get stolen money back. Be very careful of anyone, including someone claiming to represent this website, who promises a guaranteed refund or asks you to pay a fee up front to "unlock" your recovered funds. This is almost always a second scam. Never send money to anyone who says they can recover money you already lost.
Information Is Provided "As Is"
We work hard to keep our articles, scam warnings, and search results accurate and current, using information from official sources such as the FBI, the FTC, and other public agencies. Even so, scams change every day, and we cannot promise that every piece of information on this site is complete, current, or error-free. A "no known scam found" result on our search tool does not mean something is guaranteed safe. Always use your own good judgment, and when in doubt, don't send money or personal information to anyone.
Not Legal, Medical, or Financial Advice
Nothing on this website should be treated as legal, medical, or financial advice for your specific situation. For advice about your own circumstances, please speak with a licensed attorney, doctor, or financial professional. See our Medical & Legal Disclaimer for more detail.
Our Promise to You
"We are an independent educational resource. We never ask for your personal financial information, passwords, banking credentials, or payment to recover lost funds."
If you believe you are the victim of fraud, identity theft, or a cybercrime, please contact the appropriate U.S. government agency immediately. Our Official Reporting Resources page will point you in the right direction.
